Summary

Position: NOC Tech I
Location: Remote, CST
Duration: 3 months contract that could extend to 6 months
Shift: OVERNIGHT SHIFT 10pm-6am
 
Note: Candidates should be from SERVICE PROVIDER background 
 
POSITION SUMMARY:
The NOC Technician I will perform 24 x7 continuous Network monitoring of the Client DWDM, IP and Ethernet networks. The Technician should have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within at least one of the above fields. The Technician will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Primary job functions typically require working independently, but some technical assistance from higher-level technicians, engineers, supervisors or Manager as needed.
Technical Qualifications:
  • Intermediate Knowledge of the OSI Model.
  • Intermediate knowledge of TDM, SONET ,DWDM and other Transport fundamentals.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Network Equipment configuration and troubleshooting
    • Intermediate knowledge of IP troubleshooting procedures to include NE configuration, VLANS, Static and DHCP IP addressing, email/hosting, DNS and DSLAMS
    • Intermediate knowledge in troubleshooting procedures Voice switching systems.
  • Experience working in a Service Provider, ISP, Carrier, or Telecommunications environment.
  • NOC II or NOC III level experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Routing & Switching within service provider networks.
  • Experience supporting backbone network infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • BGP (Border Gateway Protocol)
    • MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching)
    • VPLS (Virtual Private LAN Service)
  • Experience using SolarWinds for network monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
  • Experience troubleshooting network outages, latency, and routing issues.
