Job Details

OpenShift Engineer Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid 3 days onsite required)
Contract: 12-18 months, with potential for extension

We are currently recruiting for an experienced OpenShift Engineer to support and enhance our client s Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) environment. This role is responsible for engineering, automation, support, and ongoing optimization of multiple OpenShift clusters, while providing hands-on expertise for application migrations and modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate is a proactive engineer with deep technical knowledge of OpenShift, Kubernetes, and containerized architectures, and a passion for automation and continuous improvement.
Required Skills and Experience

  • 7 12 years of IT experience, including 4+ years working with OpenShift or Kubernetes platforms
  • Proven experience in OpenShift Administration and related Red Hat technologies.
  • Strong understanding of Linux Containers (Docker), Kubernetes, and microservices architecture.
  • Proficiency with Java, JBoss, nginx, Node.js, and enterprise application frameworks.
  • Practical experience with automated deployment and DevOps concepts.
  • Hands-on experience using GitLab CI/CD or similar automation tools.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (protocols, firewalls, load balancing).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Commitment to knowledge sharing and mentoring team members
  • Some familiarity with SSL certificate management.
  • Experience working within Agile environments (stand-ups, sprints, Kanban).
  • Awareness of industry standards and emerging cloud-native technologies.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Dynatrace or QRadar.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, support, and optimize OpenShift clusters and associated PaaS environments.
  • Design and implement automation for deployment, scaling, and lifecycle management of containerized applications.
  • Assist teams with migrating and refactoring applications to containerized workloads.
  • Configure and manage OpenShift Data Foundation, Platform Plus, Advanced Cluster Management, and Advanced Cluster Security.
  • Manage and maintain Ceph storage for reliable data operations.
  • Integrate and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and related DevOps tools.
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to enhance platform capabilities.
  • Produce high-quality documentation and share knowledge across technical teams.
