Lead Electronics Engineer & Project Manager (Avionics & Automated Test Equipment (ATE)/Test Program Sets (TPS) Systems)

Serve as the principal Electronics Engineer and Project Management authority driving the design, development, and fielding of advanced avionics test capabilities. In this high-impact technical leadership role, you will lead the creation, re-hosting, and modernization of TPS and ATE to establish organic repair and diagnostic capability for Line/Shop Replaceable Units (LRSRUs) across the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) enterprise.

What you will accomplish:

- Enterprise-Level Technical Authority: Act as the recognized organizational subject matter expert, guiding multi-phase engineering projects, mentoring technical staff, and ensuring program success.

- Direct Aviation Readiness Impact: Design and deliver the diagnostic hardware and software test solutions that keep combat aircraft avionics, electronic warfare suites, and prime mission systems operational.

- End-to-End Systems Ownership: Lead full-lifecycle engineering from initial design and acquisition coordination through gated validation, verification (V&V), and final customer acceptance.

Key Responsibilities:

- Technical Project Management: Direct and execute engineering projects, guiding and evaluating the design, development, and integration activities of multi-disciplinary teams.

- TPS Design & Re-Hosting: Lead the engineering of new, re-hosted, and modified Test Program Sets for functional and diagnostic testing of critical LRUs and SRUs.

- Acquisition & Enterprise Coordination: Support and coordinate with AFSC agencies on acquisition programs for ATE, TPS software tools, and standardized development processes.

- Validation, Verification & Quality Assurance: Lead V&V support across the gated development lifecycle, managing quality assurance reviews and formal customer acceptance testing.

- Laboratory & Systems Integration: Partner with systems administrators and IT teams to oversee hardware/software configuration management, server environments, and system certifications across Main Operating Bases (MOBs) and contractor sites.

- An avionics and test systems specialist experienced with ATE, TPS, and diagnostic testing of LRSRUs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- U.S. Citizenship

- May occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft

- Obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance

- Designated as a Acquisition Position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP)

Recruitment Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of professional electronics engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services.

2. Knowledge of development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.

3. Knowledge of integrated air-vehicles, ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of electronic systems or devices.

4. Knowledge of the principles of planning and program management; standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; and other engineering disciplines.

5. Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches, and to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes.

6. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies.
