Project Coordinator - Mechanical Construction
Location: Southwest Chicago Suburbs, IL
Industry: Mechanical Construction / HVAC

About the Opportunity: We are an established mechanical contractor specializing in complex HVAC, ventilation, and sheet metal construction throughout the Chicagoland area. Our team supports large-scale projects across mission-critical/data centers, healthcare, life sciences, higher education, institutional, and commercial environments.
We are looking for a Project Coordinator to support our Project Management and field teams throughout the lifecycle of our construction projects. This is a great opportunity for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and interested in growing their career within mechanical construction.

Responsibilities
  • Support Project Managers with day-to-day coordination of active construction projects
  • Maintain project documentation, schedules, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and purchase orders
  • Track material and equipment procurement and coordinate deliveries with project teams
  • Assist with project startup, closeout documentation, warranties, and turnover packages
  • Coordinate with general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and internal field teams
  • Help maintain project schedules and track important milestones and deadlines
  • Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation for completeness
  • Assist with meeting preparation, project updates, and documentation of action items
  • Support BIM, fabrication, and field teams with project information and coordination
  • Help identify outstanding project items and ensure they are addressed in a timely manner
  • Maintain organized and accurate project files throughout the duration of each project

Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience in construction, project coordination, project administration, or a related role preferred
  • Experience with mechanical, HVAC, sheet metal, MEP, or commercial construction is highly preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Comfortable working with construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with construction management or document-control software is a plus
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment
