Expected Duration: 6+ months strong possibility for extension

Pay range: $70-80/hr on W2

Job Type: [FULL TIME (>=40 HRS WEEKLY), [CONTRACT], [Remote]

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Application Modernization Architect to lead large-scale Mainframe to Cloud transformation programs within the Airline industry. The role focuses on re-architecting legacy C/C++ applications running on Mainframe platforms into scalable, cloud-native solutions leveraging PostgreSQL, microservices, and modern integration frameworks.

This role requires strong technical depth in legacy system analysis, distributed architecture, data migration, integration patterns, and deep airline domain expertise across reservations, inventory, and revenue systems

Expereince in below components / modules is required

• Define enterprise modernization roadmap (Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Re-architect).


• Conduct legacy system assessment (C/C++, batch, online transaction systems).


• Define target-state cloud-native architecture.


• Establish phased coexistence strategy between Mainframe and Cloud.


• Drive domain-driven design (DDD) and microservices adoption.


• Analyze complex C/C++ codebases and tightly coupled modules.


• Refactor or re-architect legacy applications into modular services.


• Design API enablement layer for legacy systems.

Required Qualifications

• 15+ years of IT experience, including 5+ years in enterprise architecture.


• Strong experience with:




• Mainframe (z/OS, DB2, VSAM, JCL)


• C/C++ legacy systems


• PostgreSQL (enterprise-level tuning & HA)


• Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform)


• Kubernetes & containerization




• Experience designing high-throughput distributed systems.


• Proven experience leading large-scale migration programs.
