Your Team Responsibilities

The Engineering Fellow is an executive-level technical leadership role at MSCI, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer. This role is responsible for the end-to-end technology strategy, architectural blueprint, and engineering excellence at MSCI. The position blends high-level business strategy with hands-on technical governance to deliver highly scalable, secure, and AI-native financial platforms used by clients across the globe.

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Technology Strategy & Architecture
  • Architectural Blueprinting: Define and drive the long-term, durable technical architecture for all Product and Business lines at MSCI.
  • AI-Native Transformation: Spearhead the integration of advanced technologies like Generative AI and machine learning directly into core products and client experiences to benefit clients.
  • Cloud & Platform Evolution: Oversee the migration, scaling, and cost optimization of high-availability cloud-native solutions.
  • Technical Governance: Establish design systems, guardrails, and quality frameworks to evaluate solution designs, identify capability gaps, and manage architectural risks.
  1. Engineering & Operational Excellence
  • Developer Velocity: Champion Agentic Engineering, infrastructure improvements and developer tools that eliminate engineering friction, fostering "speed as a habit" across global teams.
  • Resiliency & Scalability: Ensure zero-downtime, sub-second latency, and robust disaster recovery capabilities for critical products.
  • Data Privacy & Compliance: Work closely with security teams to ensure systems are fully compliant with global regulations and data privacy laws.
  1. Leadership & Talent Management
  • Talent Stewardship: Act as a primary mentor and coach for the organization's highest technical talent, including Distinguished Engineers, Principal Engineers, and Enterprise Architects.
  • Boundaryless Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional executive stakeholders-including Product Management, Experience Design (XD), and Data Science-to align technology investments with business growth targets.
  • M&A Integration: Drive technical due diligence and lead the architectural integration of acquired platforms and third-party independent software vendor (ISV) ecosystems into MSCI Product lines.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Experience: 15+ years of software product development experience with a strong track record of delivering enterprise-grade platforms at scale.
  • Leadership: 3-5+ years in an executive-level leadership role managing and coaching globally distributed engineering and architecture teams.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep expertise across the entire full-stack software development lifecycle-specifically cloud infrastructure, distributed data stores, transactional APIs, financial security compliance, and AI/ML data frameworks.
  • Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent technical field (an MBA or relevant advanced engineering degree is highly preferred).
  • Domain Expertise: Knowledge of Financial Services is preferred.
