Summary
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Electric Drives Control Engineer with hands-on experience in electric propulsion systems, motor control, and power electronics for heavy vehicle applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and validating drive control algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink while working closely with systems, software, power electronics, and verification teams. Candidates with expertise in HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) testing, AC traction drives, and model-based development are highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop drive control algorithms for electric propulsion and auxiliary drive systems using model-based development.
- Develop MATLAB/Simulink plant models to simulate motors, converters, and power electronic systems for validation.
- Integrate and enhance existing drive control features while maintaining software baselines and version control.
- Perform HIL testing and real-time simulation to verify control software before hardware deployment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support software integration, verification, and system validation.
- Create and maintain technical documentation including software requirements, design reviews, and defect analysis reports.
- Troubleshoot and optimize motor control performance by resolving software issues and improving drive efficiency.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in Electric Drives Control, Power Electronics, or Motor Control engineering.
- Strong expertise in HIL systems and real-time simulation for validating embedded control software.
- Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink for model-based design, simulation, and code generation.
- Solid knowledge of AC Traction Drives, Induction Motors, and Permanent Magnet Motor Control techniques.
- Experience with Converter/Inverter topologies, Field-Oriented Control (FOC), and Torque/Speed Control strategies.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle, requirements management, configuration management, and defect resolution.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related STEM field.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with IBM DOORS for requirements management.
- Knowledge of Stateflow, Simscape, and Embedded Coder.
- Experience with VSIM, ClearQuest, or configuration management tools.
- Exposure to heavy vehicle testing environments and propulsion system validation.
