Role: Mainframe Developer/Tester

Job description:
Looking for a Mainframe Developer/Tester, this is primarily development role with some testing experience.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL applications running on IBM Mainframe platforms.
- Develop and support online and batch applications using CICS, JCL, and VSAM.
- Create, modify, and optimize batch jobs using JCL, SORT, and utilities.
- Work with VSAM datasets and flat files, including file layouts, access methods, and performance tuning.
- Use SCLM for source control, versioning, and promotion across environments.
- Interact with schedulers (CA7) to design, troubleshoot, and optimize batch job flows.
- Support file processing and analysis using tools such as File Manager.
- Perform impact analysis, root cause analysis, and production support for mainframe applications.
- Collaborate with architects, business analysts, and upstream/downstream teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Follow enterprise coding standards, documentation practices, and change management processes.
- Perform unit testing, system testing, and integration testing for mainframe applications.
- Develop and execute test cases for COBOL, CICS, and batch programs.
- Validate data integrity across files, VSAM datasets, and interfaces.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve defects; work closely with QA and business teams for issue resolution.
- Support production validation, regression testing, and post-implementation verification

Technical Skills:
- IBM Mainframe Environment
- COBOL (Strong, hands-on)
- CICS (Online transaction processing)
- JCL (Batch job creation and support)
- VSAM (KSDS, ESDS, RRDS)
- Scheduler: CA7
- SCLM (Source Code Library Manager)
- SORT utilities
- File Manager
- MQ (Low to basic working knowledge)
- REXX (Nice to have)
Experience:
8+ years of experience in mainframe application development and support
Strong experience working in large-scale enterprise systems
Proven ability to work independently on complex modules and production issues
Experience supporting mission-critical applications with high availability requirements
