Location: Brookfield, CT / Boise, ID / Allen, TX (5 Days a week onsite)

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Storage, Backup, and Data Protection Contractor to support and stabilize our global storage and backup environment. This role will be responsible for hands-on management of on-prem and hybrid storage platforms, backup and recovery operations, and supporting best practices for data retention, Disaster Recovery (DR), and Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
The contractor will also provide guidance on equipment selection, capacity planning, and architecture improvements to ensure resiliency, scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Storage Management
- Manage and support enterprise storage platforms including NetApp, Dell storage solutions, and QNAP systems.
- Provision, monitor, and maintain SAN and NAS storage environments.
- Perform performance tuning, tiering, and storage optimization activities.
- Monitor capacity usage and perform storage forecasting and planning.
- Provide recommendations for storage upgrades, expansions, and refresh cycles.
Backup & Recovery
- Administer and support Veeam backup and replication environments.
- Ensure successful backup execution, monitoring, and alerting.
- Perform backup restores and support recovery during incidents or outages.
- Optimize backup performance, storage utilization, and retention settings.
- Conduct regular recovery testing to validate backup integrity.
Data Protection, Retention & Cloud Usage
- Support definition and enforcement of data retention policies across on-prem and cloud platforms.
- Provide guidance on the use of cloud storage for archive and long-term retention.
- Align data protection practices with regulatory, legal, and business requirements.
- Identify opportunities to reduce data sprawl and optimize storage costs.
Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
- Support development and maintenance of DR and BCP storage strategies.
- Assist with replication, failover, and recovery architecture designs.
- Participate in DR testing and tabletop exercises.
- Help document recovery objectives including RPO and RTO.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
- Document storage, backup, and recovery configurations and processes.
- Develop Runbooks, standards, and operational procedures.
- Provide knowledge transfer to internal IT teams.
Required Experience & Skills
- 7+ years of experience in enterprise storage and backup environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with NetApp, Dell storage platforms, QNAP, and Veeam.
- Experience with backup, restore, and disaster recovery operations.
- Knowledge of data retention, compliance, and security requirements.
- Experience working in hybrid on-prem and cloud environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently in a contractor role.
Preferred Qualifications
- NetApp, Veeam, or Dell storage certifications.
- Experience supporting multi-site or global environments.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Experience in manufacturing or regulated environments.
