Summary

Description

The Senior Infrastructure Platform Architect will support the EIS Middleware Branch under the INF Automation & DevOps project. This role supports Economic Infrastructure Services (EIS) and ECON Survey Systems through platform engineering, infrastructure automation, and migration activities.

 

The position focuses heavily on enabling containerization and Kubernetes orchestration within on-prem VMware and BareMetal environments while supporting hybrid cloud integration across AWS and Oracle Cloud. 

 

While this role is remote, periodic in-person collaboration in the Washington, D.C. Metro area may be required. Increased onsite presence may be expected during initial onboarding and key project phases.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform platform re-engineering and cloud-first enablement of multi-node Kubernetes and VMware clusters
  • Support containerization and hybrid cloud infrastructure initiatives
  • Provision BareMetal and Virtual Servers in AWS and Oracle platforms supporting Survey Systems
  • Upgrade and maintain BareMetal and Hypervisor-based virtual clusters
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) utilizing containerization, serverless, and cloud-native services
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, Git workflows, Jenkins, IaC, and Bash scripting
  • Administer multi-node platform architectures, including Karpenter-enabled Kubernetes clusters
  • Enable Amazon Machine Learning models for Computer Vision and Deep Learning
  • Support modernization of physical and virtual machines to meet evolving business needs
  • Provide operational support across both on-prem and cloud environments

Qualifications:

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience

Required Skills & Experience

 

5+ years of experience with server platforms:

-VMware

-vSphere

-Oracle Cloud

-AWS Cloud

 

2+ years of DevOps / CI-CD experience:

-Terraform or Infrastructure as Code

-Git

-Jenkins

 

2+ years of experience with container platforms:

-Docker

-AWS ECS

-Kubernetes

 

2+ years of operational experience supporting both on-prem and cloud environments

 

3+ years of experience with:

-Ansible Playbooks

-Ansible Tower

-BitBucket

-RHEL

 

Desired Skills

  • OpenShift or AWS EKS
  • AWS API Gateway or RESTful API support
  • Cloud services including Lambda, Glue, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, Step Functions, Airflow, S3, Aurora

 

Certifications (Active, Expired, or In-Progress accepted)

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
  • Certified Terraform Associate
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator
