Software Tester – Remote
BG Workforce Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Software Tester to support high-impact Department of War (DoW) technology initiatives in the United States and internationally. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, security, and reliability of mission-critical software systems used by the U.S. Military and its partners. Ideal candidates will have experience testing web-based and backend systems in secure environments and a strong understanding of quality assurance best practices within regulated or government environments.
This position reports to: BG Workforce Software Developer Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, execute, and maintain manual and automated test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
- Validate software functionality, performance, security, and usability against requirements.
- Collaborate with developers, system architects, and product owners to understand system requirements.
- Identify, document, track, and verify defects using issue tracking systems.
- Perform regression, integration, system, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Ensure applications meet DoW cybersecurity, compliance, and quality standards.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Support test activities in cloud and on-premise environments.
- Provide quality status reports and risk assessments to leadership.
Qualifications
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required
Clearance: Must be able to pass a military background check and be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
Experience
- 3+ years of professional software testing or quality assurance experience.
- Experience testing web applications, APIs, and backend services.
- Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (Git).
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and QA best practices.
- Knowledge of secure coding and testing practices aligned with DoW standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in secure environments.
Desired Skills/Certifications
- Experience with automated testing tools (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar).
- API testing experience (Postman, REST Assured).
- Cloud platform exposure (AWS or Azure).
- DoW, government, or defense contracting experience.
- Security or QA certifications (ISTQB, Security+, or similar).
Work Environment
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work within the Eastern Time Zone.
- Must maintain a home office that complies with company security standards.
