We are seeking an experienced Storage & Backup Administrator / Resident Engineer for supporting a complex enterprise infrastructure environment.
This role requires a strong, hands-on infrastructure professional with experience administering enterprise storage and backup environments across Dell, NetApp, Pure Storage, and Cisco technologies.
The consultant will be responsible for maintaining operational continuity, troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure issues, supporting storage and backup operations, improving technical documentation, and providing knowledge transfer to the customer's internal teams.
High Priority / Required Qualifications
Candidates should have strong hands-on experience in the following areas:
· Enterprise Storage & Backup Administration: Demonstrated experience administering both enterprise storage and backup environments in production.
· Dell Storage: Strong working knowledge of Dell enterprise storage technologies and Dell infrastructure support processes.
· NetApp: Hands-on experience with NetApp storage administration and common operational workflows.
· Pure Storage: Hands-on experience administering Pure Storage environments and supporting common operational workflows.
· Cisco Networking: Working knowledge of Cisco switching and networking technologies as they relate to storage, backup, replication, and infrastructure connectivity.
· Storage Administration: Strong experience with storage provisioning, host connectivity, multipathing, replication, snapshots, capacity management, and performance troubleshooting.
· Backup & Recovery: Experience monitoring backup environments, troubleshooting failed backups, validating recovery points, performing restores, managing retention and replication, and conducting recovery testing.
· Production Support: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to independently identify, prioritize, and resolve production-impacting infrastructure issues.
· Customer-Facing Support: Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills with the ability to operate effectively in an on-site customer environment.
· Independent Execution: Ability to independently manage technical responsibilities while coordinating with customer teams, vendors, partners, and third-party support organizations.
· Operational Discipline: Strong adherence to change-control processes, security procedures, technical documentation standards, and operational handover requirements.
· Maintenance Support: Ability and willingness to support scheduled infrastructure maintenance windows when required.
· Ability to comply with applicable customer site-access, background-check, safety, security, confidentiality, and acceptable-use requirements.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide day-to-day administration and operational support for enterprise storage and backup environments.
· Administer and troubleshoot Dell, NetApp, and Pure Storage platforms.
· Monitor storage health, capacity, utilization, performance, provisioning, host connectivity, replication, and snapshots.
· Monitor backup jobs, repositories, retention policies, replication, recovery points, and overall data-protection health.
· Investigate and remediate failed backups and other data-protection issues.
· Perform restores, recovery-point validation, and recovery testing.
· Manage storage provisioning, host connectivity, multipathing, capacity, and performance.
· Troubleshoot infrastructure connectivity related to storage, backup, replication, management, and recovery environments.
· Work with Cisco networking technologies and customer networking teams to resolve port, path, VLAN, routing, firewall, and connectivity dependencies.
· Triage production incidents and restore affected infrastructure services.
· Participate in root-cause analysis and execute approved infrastructure changes.
· Collect and analyze system logs, alerts, performance information, support bundles, and other diagnostic data.
· Open, manage, and coordinate technical support cases with Dell, NetApp, Pure Storage, Cisco, backup-software providers, and other infrastructure vendors.
· Maintain detailed records of incidents, changes, maintenance activities, recovery tests, vendor cases, identified risks, and corrective actions.
· Conduct knowledge-transfer sessions with designated customer personnel.
· Support a structured transition and final operational handover at the conclusion of the engagement.
