Senior Java Developer – IRS Master File Systems (Remote)

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer to support the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Master File modernization effort. This role supports enterprise applications responsible for processing critical tax data systems.

The developer will work within an Agile development environment supporting enterprise JEE applications on Linux and z/OS platforms while integrating modern services with legacy IRS systems.

This role is 100% remote and part of a large engineering team delivering enhancements to Business Master File (BMF) systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance enterprise Java 8 / JEE applications

• Design, develop, test, and deploy new software components

• Analyze requirements and create technical design specifications

• Write and execute unit, integration, and regression tests

• Debug and modify existing application code

• Integrate legacy systems with service-based frameworks

• Develop automated test scripts and test plans

• Produce release documentation and technical artifacts

• Participate in code reviews and Agile sprint activities

• Provide lifecycle support for applications on z/OS and Red Hat Linux

• Track development activities in JIRA or RTC

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years Java development

• 8+ years total software development experience

• Experience with DB2 databases

• Experience with JCL or batch processing

• Experience developing enterprise applications

• Strong documentation and collaboration skills

• Ability to work within Agile teams

• Experience supporting IRS systems

• Experience with Business Master File (BMF) systems

• Experience working with ALC applications

• Experience integrating legacy systems with service frameworks
