IBM Developer

Job Description:

As an IBM Developer Contractor, you will be responsible for developing and implementing solutions using IBM technologies to meet project requirements. Develop and maintain applications using IBM technologies, ensuring high performance and responsiveness. Collaborate with project teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Perform troubleshooting and debugging to resolve issues and optimize application performance. Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards. Create and maintain technical documentation for developed solutions.

Primary Skill Required for the Role: Mainframe

Level Required for Primary Skill: Intermediate (3-5 years experience)

• VSAM (Virtual Storage access Method)

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership & Design: Architect, design, and develop scalable mainframe solutions, leading code reviews and technical documentation.
• Development & Maintenance: Expert-level coding in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, CICS
• System Performance & Support: Monitor system performance, optimize resources, manage batch jobs, and resolve complex production incidents.
• Project Delivery & Agile: Guide Agile teams, manage project scope/schedules, and liaise with stakeholders for requirements.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance to junior developers and ensure adherence to best practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Technical Skills:

• Deep knowledge of z/OS, COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, IMS, REXX, and debugging tools like Xpediter or File-Aid.

Experience:

• 5-8 years of experience in mainframe development, including at least 1-2 years in a lead role.
