This position is contingent upon award.Position OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to be responsible for the analysis, design, development, and implementation support of tactical communications systems and applications.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide technical system support, including needs analysis and proposal generation design
- Address Government technical design questions and issues
- Demonstrate expertise in communication system topologies, including conventional tactical communications systems (e.g., OTAR, trunking, data), microwave, VoIP, and IT architectures
- Support design of sites, systems, and technical solutions to meet operational requirements per technical standards and DHS direction
- Perform propagation modeling, simulation, and CAD analysis using tools such as Comarco/EDX, Hertz Warfare, and Spectrum-E
- Support equipment integration, testing, optimization, and deployment
- Evaluate emerging technologies and provide engineering recommendations to minimize cost and improve performance
Requirements
- Experience with P25 tactical communications systems similar in scope and magnitude to DHS's nationwide TACCOM network
- Demonstrated expertise in communication system topologies, including conventional tactical communications systems (e.g., OTAR, trunking, data), microwave, VoIP, and IT architectures
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field
- Minimum 10 years of equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of DHS Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC) processes
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination
- U.S. citizenship required
Preferred Qualification:- Experience with RF propagation modeling software (Comarco/EDX, Hertz Warfare, Spectrum-E)
- Familiarity with Motorola R56 standards and site engineering practices
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
