SummaryThe Substation Commissioning Supervisor works on behalf of the project Owner as a Commissioning Manager across a portfolio of renewable energy projects including wind, solar, and battery storage. This role is responsible for the execution of assigned renewable power plant projects and teams as they relate to commissioning, startup, and operational turnover.
Job Responsibilities- Ensure all commissioning activities for assigned projects are completed with high quality and in full adherence to all NextEra Energy and FPL safety policies.
- Coordinate and manage EPC contractor personnel, OEM startup teams, third-party startup contractors, and on-site operations personnel throughout commissioning and startup phases.
- Deliver reliable projects at operational turnover with minimal lost time during initial operation.
- Ensure full compliance with all project contractual documents, including Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and Large Generator Interconnect Agreement (LGIA) deliverables with the local utility.
- Maintain proper interface with Transmission Operators and Independent System Operators to ensure on-time project energization.
- Manage the Client's on-site commissioning personnel.
- Coordinate with project safety, engineering, and quality control representatives.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Preferred Background- Self-starter with a strong drive for quality, execution, and safety.
- 5 years of on-site project support experience in renewable power generation construction startup and commissioning.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working for an EPC within renewable power generation project construction startup and commissioning.
- Proven ability to collaborate with engineering personnel on complex technical issues and with construction personnel on constructability, scheduling, and cost discussions.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
Required Skillsets- Knowledge of electrical construction and commissioning means and methods, including NEC and NFPA.
- SCADA integration and troubleshooting experience.
- E\\&I controls and instrumentation installation, startup, and troubleshooting.
- Protection and Controls implementation and troubleshooting.
- Drawing review and quality control inspection.
- Progress reporting.
- Proficiency in Outlook, PDF editing, Word, Excel, document control systems, and PowerPoint.
- Management of third-party contractors and suppliers.
- Management of direct-report team members.
- Strong understanding of scheduling and planning.
