Sr. Microsoft Systems Administrator for a long-term contract role with our client in Austin, TX.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICESThe senior systems / server administrator will support TSBPA's current environment and technology upgrades as TSBPA completes the planning and implementation of their Legacy Modernization project. TSBPA has completed an assessment of their current systems, structures, processes, network, functions, and capabilities and is in the process of upgrading and improving those environments and systems. TSBPA is a small information resources environment.
The ideal candidate will be a Systems Administrator who:
- has a strong background in providing technical support to Microsoft Windows Enterprise Systems Environments to include supporting the following:
- On-premises physical server hosts
- virtual devices (especially domain controllers, file servers, Exchange servers, application servers, print servers, and content management servers)
- storage solutions
- backup solutions
- security certificate management (heading to the 47-day renewal cycle)
- server licensing
- experience working in concert with others for co-managing:
- Microsoft Windows Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP
- has some experience with analyzing and problem-solving network administration subjects of:
- firewalls
- firewall management systems
- SIEMs
- switches
- network licensing
- has a strong background in working within the Microsoft environment for work communications and workflow:
- Microsoft File Explorer for storing work products
- Microsoft Outlook for receiving work requests/assignments, responding to them and filing necessary emails for future reference
- Microsoft Word for documentation
- Microsoft Excel for documentation, tracking and/or analysis
The Systems Administrator regular duties will include:- Working with other staff members on the TSBPA Information Resources (IR) team (in person and remotely) to provide information technology services to the TSBPA
- Monitor, maintain and update the physical server hosts in partnership with other staff
- Monitor, maintain and update the virtual server environments in partnership with other staff
- Monitor, maintain and update the virtual storage solutions
- Monitor the backup solution
- Implement required security parameters and requirements as directed within the Windows server environment
- Assist in the development of documentation related to technical support responsibilities and support procedures
- Manage system and user account administration for server licensing, solutions, and software applications, etc.
- Provide identity and access management (IAM) for on premises and cloud-based systems as required
Projects the System Administrator will be involved with immediately:- Exchange on-prem migration to M365
- Assist the currently contracted vendor with TSBPA's plans to migrate the Exchange solution to the M365 cloud environment
- Manage Microsoft Active Directory user accounts and permissions along with network engineer and IR staff, as required
- Microsoft Active Directory analysis and restructure
- Plan and perform duties related to upgrading and supporting the Active Directory Domain environment
Work the System Administrator will be involved with overtime:- Support the email encryption solution where possible this may include our SaaS email filtering solution
- Perform SaaS system and account administration duties
The Systems Administrator duties may include:- Assist in providing network administration and support
- Assist the network engineer when needed to support local switches, firewalls and wireless devices
- Support secure external and internal access to the systems allowing external and internal customers to securely collaborate
- Assist with help-desk request to agency staff
CANDIDATE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS10 years Required Minimum of 10 Years of experience supporting Microsoft Operating Systems environments as an IT Systems / Server Administrator
8 years Required Experience in the implementation and support of Active Directory Domains, Dell Storage Solutions, VMware environments, Exchange, M365 environments, backup solutions
8 years Required Experience communicating and providing direct technical support to agency Business units and Stakeholders
8 years Required Extensive experience providing all aspects of configuration and end user support for Microsoft Office 365 applications
8 years Required Experience Managing user accounts and network configurations as required to provide services to meet the business and technical requirements
5 years Required Experience in the implementation of required security parameters to meet the requirements of the agency security policies
5 years Required Experience completing assessments to develop strategic recommendations and roadmaps
5 years Preferred Experience documenting support requirements and procedures
3 years Preferred Previous experience providing IT desktop support to end users in state public sector
