About the Role: We are seeking a driven AI & Innovation Engineer to spearhead the design and deployment of artificial intelligence solutions within our Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance operations. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role at the intersection of insurance domain expertise and cutting-edge AI technology.

You will work closely with underwriting, claims, actuarial, and product teams to identify opportunities where AI, machine learning, and generative AI can reduce loss ratios, improve customer experience, streamline operations, and create competitive advantage. This role requires both technical depth and the ability to translate complex AI capabilities into tangible business outcomes for P&C insurance stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

AI Solution Development:

  • Design, develop, and deploy generative AI models for P&C use cases including risk scoring, claims triage, fraud detection, underwriting automation, and pricing optimization.
  • Build and maintain AI pipelines integrating structured insurance data (policy, claims, loss runs) with unstructured sources (documents, images, telematics).
  • Develop LLM-powered tools for policy document analysis, FNOL automation, subrogation identification, and coverage interpretation.

Innovation & Strategy:

  • Lead proof-of-concept (PoC) and rapid prototyping efforts to validate AI-driven ideas before full-scale investment.
  • Monitor emerging AI trends, InsurTech innovations, and regulatory developments relevant to P&C insurance.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to define AI use case roadmaps aligned with underwriting, claims, and actuarial strategy.
  • Evaluate and integrate third-party AI vendors, data providers, and InsurTech APIs (e.g., aerial imagery, weather data, telematics).

Required Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with LLMs and generative AI tools (OpenAI, Anthropic, MS Agent Framework, LangChain, or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience in at least one P&C insurance domain: underwriting, claims, fraud detection, or actuarial modeling.
  • Experience with structured and unstructured insurance data, including policy systems, claims management systems (e.g., Guidewire, Duck Creek), or ISO/ACORD data standards.
  • Solid SQL skills and experience with data warehouses (SQL Server, MS Fabric).
  • Excellent communication skills ability to present AI concepts to non-technical insurance executives and regulators.

P&C Domain Knowledge Areas

Candidates should have working familiarity with several of the following P&C insurance concepts and workflows:

  • Personal and commercial lines underwriting risk selection, appetite, and pricing factors.
  • Claims lifecycle management FNOL, coverage verification, reserve setting, settlement, and subrogation.
  • Fraud indicators and SIU (Special Investigations Unit) referral triggers.
  • ISO Commercial Lines Manual (CLM), ACORD forms, and policy language interpretation.
  • Premium audit, endorsements, and mid-term policy changes.
