Job Description:

The Project Analyst - Communications will support executive leadership and agency offices within our client, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This role is ideal for a communications professional with strong writing, editing, and quality-control skills who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment involving executive-level and legislative correspondence.

The Analyst will support the development, review, coordination, and tracking of communications and information requests received from stakeholders across FEMA, DHS, other government entities, and external organizations. A primary focus of the position will be reviewing written materials for completeness, clarity, accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established agency writing standards, templates, policies, and concurrence procedures.

The successful candidate will possess excellent written communication and editorial skills, strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to independently manage multiple assignments and deadlines with minimal supervision.

The selected candidate will report directly to the Hite Program Manager.

Work Location:

This position is a hybrid role primarily working remotely, with client engagement activities in Washington D.C.

Position Duties:

  • Serve as part of a team functioning as the FEMA directorate\'s primary point of entry for internal and external inquiries and information requests requiring agency review and response.
  • Review, edit, and quality-control written materials to ensure compliance with prescribed templates and agency communication standards, including grammar, punctuation, organization, plain language, tone, voice, consistency, completeness, and suitability for the intended audience.
  • Draft, edit, and refine correspondence, memoranda, responses, and other communications associated with information and legislative requests received by FEMA.
  • Review written products for accuracy and completeness, including conducting fact-checking and identifying inconsistencies, missing information, or areas requiring clarification before materials advance for review or approval.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with agency staff and FEMA/DHS components throughout the coordination, routing, review, and approval of information requests.
  • Work with division personnel and subject matter experts to obtain necessary information, clarify content, establish response timelines, and support the development of complete and responsive written products.
  • Review FEMA/DHS policies, directives, procedures, and established communications requirements to ensure written products and processes remain compliant.
  • Manage and meticulously track assignments from receipt through completion using established operating procedures, tracking systems, and concurrence processes.
  • Coordinate the review, concurrence, approval, and signature of written materials by agency leadership and other appropriate stakeholders.
  • Ensure final written products are clear, concise, well organized, accurate, responsive to the request, and appropriate for executive, legislative, government, or external audiences.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience working in a fast-paced environment requiring the management of multiple concurrent assignments; candidates with an advanced degree may qualify with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing, editing, communications, or the development and review of professional written materials.
  • Strong written communication skills, including experience reviewing content for clarity, grammar, organization, consistency, and completeness.
  • Experience managing and tracking multiple assignments, requests, or deliverables while communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, missing information, and formatting or compliance issues.
  • Effective organizational and project management skills, including the ability to prioritize competing requirements and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience working with electronic document management, routing, filing, or records-management processes, including Microsoft SharePoint or a comparable platform.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively collaborating as part of a team.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust clearance.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within the discipline of federal grants or PMO office
  • Legislative Affairs experience
  • Federal government and/or management consulting experience
