IT Business Analyst

Position Summary

Defined Software Development is seeking experienced IT Business Analysts for contract consulting opportunities in the Tallahassee area. Our consultants support government and enterprise technology projects across a variety of IT environments.

The ideal candidate will be skilled at gathering and analyzing requirements, documenting business processes, and translating business needs into clear functional and technical requirements.

Specific project assignments, requirements, and durations may vary based on client and project needs.

Responsibilities

• Work with stakeholders to identify, analyze, and document business needs and requirements.
• Conduct requirements-gathering sessions, interviews, workshops, and working meetings.
• Document functional and non-functional requirements.
• Analyze existing business processes, systems, and workflows.
• Identify opportunities for process and system improvement.
• Develop business requirements documents, functional specifications, use cases, user stories, and process documentation.
• Translate business requirements into clear information for technical development teams.
• Collaborate with developers, architects, testers, project managers, and business users.
• Define acceptance criteria and expected system functionality.
• Support system testing, user acceptance testing, defect analysis, and issue resolution.
• Track requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review proposed solutions to ensure alignment with business requirements.
• Prepare reports, presentations, process flows, and other project documentation.
• Assist with implementation, training, and change-management activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor''s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience working as a Business Analyst in an IT environment.
• Experience gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing business and system requirements.
• Experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to understand business processes and translate them into functional requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting government or public-sector technology projects.
• Experience with Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies.
• Experience developing user stories, use cases, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, or similar tools.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with application development or enterprise system implementations.
• Experience with data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence.
• CBAP, PMI-PBA, or other business analysis certification.
