Primary Location: Raleigh, North Carolina

V-Soft Consulting is currently hiring for a Technical Architect - Mainframe Appl. Architect for our premier client in City, State.

Education and Experience

Technical knowledge and experience with mainframe technology. COBOL 10years, CICS 10 yrs, VSAM 10yrs, and JCL (10yrs.).
Knowledge and experience in converting data from one application to another (10 yrs.).
Successful completion of technology projects within area of responsibility.
Analyzing feasibility, compatibility and cost of solutions.
Knowledge and experience in transferring data sets from mainframe applications to Oracle / SQL based programs: 10 Years.
Successful completion of technology projects within area of responsibility, analyzing feasibility, compatibility and cost of solutions
Ability to perform mainframe logic and decommissioning: 5 Years.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Knowledge of VSAM and Hierarchical database structures

Desired skills:

Knowledge of FARS application.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to engage business experts in the purpose and use of data in the Benefit Payment Application.
Ability to engage business and technical experts in the cleansing and conversion of legacy data to Oracle: 5 Years.

WHAT YOULL DO:
Job Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of this position is to assist in maintaining the FARS systems and work on the FARS Modernization project including data cleansing and conversion.
The Mainframe Architect is expected to handle design, implementation, and maintenance of mainframe computer systems for DES.
Need to have an additional resource to be able to provide adequate support for the FARS and Interface systems.
The contractor will work with other technical teams to ensure that the mainframe system is properly integrated with other systems and technologies.
They are expected to help resolve technical issues that arise with the mainframe system.
This may include working with other technical teams to diagnose and resolve problems, as well as developing and implementing preventative measures to minimize the risk of future issues.
