Software Engineer

Job Description -

Duties & Responsibilities

·       Design, develop, test, deploy, and document scalable web applications and software systems.

·       Design and build modern full-stack solutions using Node.js, React, and related JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks and libraries.

·       Translate business requirements and functional specifications into clear technical designs, implementation plans, and working software.

·       Design, develop, optimize, and maintain relational database solutions, including schema design, query development, stored procedures, performance tuning, and data integrity practices; PostgreSQL experience is preferred.

·       Develop and integrate AI-enabled capabilities, including use of LLMs, AI services, intelligent automation, document processing, entity extraction, or workflow optimization where appropriate.

·       Use AWS development tools and cloud services to design, build, deploy, monitor, and support cloud-based applications.

·       Follow coding, testing, security, and documentation standards; actively participate in architecture reviews, design reviews, and code reviews.

·       Collaborate with internal team members, product owners, business analysts, QA, and DevOps resources to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and support successful delivery.

·       Troubleshoot production and non-production issues, analyze root causes, and implement durable fixes that improve reliability, maintainability, and performance.

·       Continuously identify opportunities to improve development practices, system performance, team effectiveness, and product quality.

Required Skills

·       10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience delivering production web applications.

·       Strong hands-on knowledge of Node.js and backend API development, including RESTful services, integration patterns, error handling, logging, and performance considerations.

·       Strong hands-on knowledge of React framework development, including component design, state management, routing, reusable UI patterns, and integration with backend services.

·       Strong database skills include query development, optimization, indexing, and application data access patterns; PostgreSQL preferred, but experience with any major relational database is acceptable.

·       Experience developing accessible applications that meet ADA and WCAG accessibility standards, including semantic markup, keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, color contrast, and inclusive user experience practices.

·       Practical AI experience is required, including use of AI tools to support software development, improve developer productivity, assist with code generation or review, and integrate AI-enabled capabilities into applications where appropriate.

·       Experience with software development lifecycle practices including requirements analysis, technical design, coding standards, automated testing, CI/CD, release management, and production support.

·       Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

·       Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities with a track record of delivering maintainable and reliable solutions.

·       Self-directed, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Education

·       Relevant Bachelor’s degree required with a Computer Science, Software Engineering or Information Systems major preferred.

Experience:

·       10+ years of relevant professional software development experience preferred, including hands-on development, solution design, production delivery, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

·       TypeScript experience across frontend and backend development.

·       Experience with AWS services such as S3, SQS, Secrets Manager, Lambda, ECS/Fargate, ECR, CloudWatch, IAM, RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL, and AWS CDK or other Infrastructure as Code tools.

·       Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, automated testing, observability, and secure software delivery.

·       Experience applying AI concepts to business workflows, automation, document processing, search, or productivity improvements.

·       Experience in HealthTech, GovTech, compliance, audit, public-sector, or regulated workflow platforms.
