Description
We are looking for a skilled SQL Database Administrator to join our team in Pompano Beach, Florida. This Contract to permanent position offers the opportunity to manage and optimize database systems within the wholesale distribution industry. The ideal candidate will ensure database security, performance, and reliability, while supporting technical teams and business objectives.
Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and upgrade SQL databases, including Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and Oracle.
Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and execute tuning to optimize efficiency.
Plan and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data availability.
Develop and enforce database security measures, including permissions, roles, and encryption.
Collaborate with developers to design and deploy efficient database structures and applications.
Maintain documentation of database configurations, policies, and procedures.
Provide technical support and resolve database-related issues for end-users and teams.
Conduct regular security audits to ensure compliance with standards and mitigate risks.
Optimize queries, indexes, and database elements to support fast data retrieval.
Test and update disaster recovery plans to ensure preparedness for emergencies.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience in database administration, including Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL.
Proficiency in database programming languages such as T-SQL and PL/SQL.
Familiarity with database management tools like SQL Server Management Studio and MySQL Workbench.
Knowledge of backup and recovery processes, high availability setups, and disaster recovery planning.
Experience with operating systems like Windows and Linux, as well as scripting languages like PowerShell and Bash.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred: Experience with cloud-based databases, data warehousing, and BI tools.
