Description
Our customer is executing a Tech Refresh to modernize a portfolio of legacy .NET Framework 4.x applications into modern .NET, packaged as containers and deployed on Kubernetes and/or Azure Container Apps. Engineers will use GitHub Copilot and agents in the day-to-day workflow to accelerate code conversion, testing, and documentation. Work is Agile with a collaborative core team; two software engineers will join an internal group of ~13 contributors across US and India.
1. Modern .NET & C# expertise - Convert legacy .NET Framework 4.x apps to modern .NET; implement clean, secure, performant code.
2. SQL (T-SQL) & data fundamentals - Analyze/optimize queries and data access layers during conversions; ensure backward compatibility and integrity. strong proficiency with data manipulation language, normalized/dimensional modeling, multiple storage subsystems
3. AI-assisted development with GitHub Copilot & agents - Use agents to accelerate code conversion, test generation, documentation, and refactoring; craft effective prompts and validate outputs. (From JD: knowledge of GitHub Copilot; use of AI Agents in software development)
4. Containerization fundamentals - Build, test, and package services into containers that will run on Kubernetes and/or Azure Container Apps; collaborate with the platform team for deployment. (From transcript; JD: "knowledge of containers")
5. Tooling: GitHub, Visual Studio/VS Code - Daily development, PRs, code reviews, CI hooks, and local container runs.
6. Software engineering excellence - TDD where practical; fix complex bugs; contribute to specs for complex components; follow Agile ceremonies.
This "project" will include:
Debugging code, fixing bug
Working with both internal folks and embedded off shore team members
Vulnerability mitigation - bringing coding up to version standards
Migration to GITHUB
Assess and rearchitect some of our systems
Optimizing code
Performance profiling
We're looking for technical competency and ability to work independently after given direction from the customer.
Long term contract, 6 month minimum, extendable. Opportunity to go full time.

Experience in highly regulated or data-sensitive environments.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.
