Lead Mobile Engineer (React Native)

About The Opportunity

We re seeking an experienced, highly collaborative Senior Lead Engineer React Native to partner with Engineering, Product, Design, Backend, and DevOps teams to tackle our client's most complex mobile challenges. You ll be hands-on in designing, building, and operating scalable, high-performance iOS and Android applications and driving the technical direction and architecture that empower our enterprise-grade mobile experiences.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Lead Engineer React Native, you will:

• Define and drive the mobile architecture strategy aligned with business goals, architecting modular component systems and participating in long-term roadmap planning.
• Lead the hands-on development of scalable apps using React Native and TypeScript, designing clean navigation (React Navigation, Expo Router) and scalable state management (Redux, Zustand, Context API).
• Drive native module integrations (Swift, Kotlin) for essential SDKs, including payments, fraud detection, analytics, and push notifications.
• Implement secure authentication flows (OAuth/OIDC, biometrics, secure storage) and ensure strict adherence to privacy compliance and accessibility standards.
• Proactively optimize startup time, bundle size, memory usage, rendering performance, and offline caching mechanisms.
• Establish and maintain mobile pipelines (Fastlane, EAS Build, App Store Connect, Google Play Console) and lead app release management and versioning strategies.
• Partner with backend teams to define API contracts, and champion automated testing (Jest, Detox) and code quality standards.
• Oversee daily mobile engineering operations, mentor engineers, and foster a culture of ownership, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience, including 6+ years of hands-on mobile development.
• Deep proficiency leading and building production-grade applications with React Native and TypeScript (4+ years in a lead capacity).
• Solid understanding of the Expo ecosystem, including EAS, OTA updates, and build pipelines.
• Skilled in mobile architecture patterns (Clean Architecture, MVVM, modular architecture) and app lifecycle/memory management.
• Proven experience delivering apps to both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, alongside strong CI/CD and mobile DevOps practices.
• Experience with API integrations (REST, GraphQL) and designing resilient, offline-first network interactions.
• Strong familiarity with authentication flows (OIDC, PKCE, secure token handling) and mobile security frameworks.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and leadership skills, with the ability to balance hands-on development with strategic architectural decisions.

Nice To Have Skills

• Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience integrating native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) modules directly into React Native applications.
• Experience working with cloud-based backends such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• History of collaborating in Agile environments and successfully influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
