Junior Data Engineer/ Data Engineer I

We are seeking a motivated Junior Data Engineer (Data Engineer I) to join a growing Data Services team responsible for managing operational data assets. This role involves both development and operational support activities, with an emphasis on modern data engineering practices and emerging technologies including AI-driven solutions.

The ideal candidate is a quick learner, collaborative team player, and passionate about building and optimizing data pipelines in a cloud-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize data pipelines, ETL processes, and data storage solutions.

• Support monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining data integrity across systems.

• Assist in implementing and configuring data platforms, tools, and frameworks.

• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and stakeholders to define technical requirements and deliver scalable solutions.

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices in data engineering.

• Document technical specifications, workflows, and data processes.

• Research and evaluate emerging technologies, including AI and machine learning applications within data engineering.

• Support data governance, data quality, and optimization initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience).

• Hands-on experience or strong academic/project exposure to data engineering concepts (ETL, data modeling, pipeline development).

• Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based data services.

• Proficiency in SQL and SQL Server.

• Programming experience in Python and SQL.

• Experience or exposure to Databricks.

• Understanding of version control systems (Git) and basic DevOps practices.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to AI/ML concepts, GenAI, or data quality automation solutions.

• Experience with Microsoft 365 tools for collaboration and documentation.

• Familiarity with data visualization or dashboarding tools.

• Internship or project experience in data engineering or cloud data environments.
