Key Responsibilities
Define and lead the enterprise database architecture strategy across multiple product lines and platforms.
Design scalable, secure, high-performing data architectures that support modern application development practices.
Partner closely with development teams to guide database design, optimization, and schema evolution.
Drive the migration of legacy onprem databases to modern database platforms (cloud or hybrid).
Evaluate, recommend, and implement cloud-based database technologies, including managed database services (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, etc.).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Infrastructure, Product, QA) to define best practices and standards for data management.
Establish data governance, data modeling, indexing, and performance tuning strategies.
Develop and maintain documentation including data flow diagrams, logical and physical models, and architectural blueprints.
Ensure data security, compliance, and resilience across systems, environments, and regions.
Provide technical mentorship to developers and database engineers.
Support capacity planning, incident troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for database-related issues.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
10+ years of experience in database architecture, engineering, or related roles.
Strong expertise with cloud database platforms, such as:
Azure SQL
Azure PostgreSQL
Expertise with multiple database engines, such as:
DB2 (required; IBM iSeries experience strongly preferred)
SQL Server
PostgreSQL
MySQL
NoSQL databases
Hands-on experience with database migration and modernization, including replatforming and refactoring legacy systems.
Strong SQL design, performance tuning, normalization, and indexing skills.
Experience with data modeling tools and methodologies (ERD, dimensional modeling, domain-driven design concepts).
Understanding of ETL/ELT, data integration, and streaming technologies
Excellent communication skills and ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
