Job description:
Role Summary:
We are seeking a highly proactive and seasoned Senior Onshore Delivery Leader to drive complex cloud solutions at a strategic client engagement in New Jersey. This high-visibility, client-facing role demands exceptional leadership and communication skills to act as the single point of technical and strategic accountability. You will be a go-getter, navigating a challenging environment to architect innovative solutions, influence senior client stakeholders, and provide decisive technical direction to the delivery organization, ensuring superior quality and measurable business value. This role requires the ability to hold a deep architectural conversation, lead strategic governance, and personally drive technical excellence.
This role is not a back-office coordination position it requires someone who can hold a technical conversation in the morning, run a governance call at noon, and review an offshore deliverable in the afternoon. You will be the face of the delivery organisation at the client site, and the quality bar you set will define how the engagement is perceived.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the definition of target-state cloud architecture, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with the client's long-term business strategy.
- Act as the hands-on technical authority, providing decisive guidance and deep technical conversation across Cloud Infrastructure, Observability, and DevOps workstreams.
- Proactively identify architectural risks and technical debt, developing and championing solutions with a 'go-getter' attitude to drive continuous, value-add improvements.
- Own the technical design review and approval process for all solution blueprints, runbooks, and operational procedures produced by the offshore team.
- Serve as the key technical escalation point, utilizing deep expertise in AWS core services and cloud best practices to resolve complex architectural challenges
- Serve as the primary, high-impact onshore technical leader, managing strategic communication and building rapport with senior client stakeholders (Director / Senior Director level).
- Demonstrate strong communication skills to articulate complex architectural designs and technical roadmaps into clear, compelling business value propositions for executive review.
- Lead strategic governance calls, steering meetings, and operational reviews, using excellent leadership skills to guide decision-making and proactively manage expectations with a solutions-first, 'no surprises' approach.
- Translate client expectations, priorities, and strategic feedback into clear, actionable architectural requirements and delivery direction for the offshore team
- Drive the execution of the solution roadmap, ensuring the offshore delivery team s output consistently meets the defined architectural and quality standards (e.g., well-architected, secure, compliant).
- Establish and enforce rigorous quality gates for all architectural and technical deliverables before client submission, serving as the ultimate technical sign-off authority.
- Be a go-getter in resolving complex delivery blockers and performance challenges quickly, holding teams accountable to committed timelines and quality standards.
- Drive continuous improvement in delivery processes, focusing on automation and efficiency in collaboration with offshore engineering teams.
- Own the creation and presentation of executive-level governance artifacts, focusing on architectural runway, technical debt reduction, and strategic roadmap progress.
- Run structured governance cadences (daily, weekly, monthly) with discipline and consistency.
- Ensure adherence to cloud governance frameworks (IAM, security, cost control) and established ITSM processes (incident, problem, change, and service request management).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of open architectural actions, risks, and decisions.
Required Qualifications
- 20+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or solution architecture, with at least 5+ years in a client-facing leadership or strategic advisory role.
- Strong AWS expertise deep, hands-on knowledge of core AWS services (EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, RDS, EKS, CloudWatch, etc.), cloud operations best practices, and AWS Well-Architected principles.
- Proven experience in architecting and governing complex managed services engagements, including SLA adherence, incident management, and continuous service improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor offshore delivery teams, setting clear architectural direction, managing time-zone coordination, and maintaining high quality standards.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder leadership skills, capable of influencing both highly technical teams and executive audiences.
- A demonstrated "go-getter" attitude and execution-oriented mindset, with a proven track record of solving complex problems and driving outcomes in challenging client environments.
- Strong architectural judgment and decisive decision-making ability.
- Solid command of ITSM frameworks (ITIL preferred) and experience running structured operational governance processes.
- Experience working directly with technically proficient senior client stakeholders (Director / Senior Director level).
- Must be based in New Jersey and willing to work from the client office 3 days per week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Multi-cloud experience (Google Cloud Platform, Azure) in addition to AWS.
- AWS certification Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional.
- Experience with DevOps toolchains CI/CD pipelines, IaC (Terraform), container platforms (EKS, ECS), and GitOps practices.
- Familiarity with FinOps principles and cloud cost optimization in an architecture context.
- ITIL V3/V4 certification.
- PMP or equivalent programme management certification.
- Prior experience in technology consulting or systems integration environments managing complex client engagements.
