Position provides direct support coverage for all enterprise systems, physical and virtual server infrastructure, storage and infrastructure application systems in both Cloud and On-Premises environments. This includes VMware, Azure Government, Azure Commercial, AWS Commercial, Microsoft and third-party tools to include project plan (including a Work Break Down Structure) with tasks required in support of the Department of State's Bureau of Overseas Building Operations (OBO) total lifecycle system engineering. Manages the systems engineering life cycle for classified and unclassified environments.
Primary Duties include:- Deploy, manage, and optimize Azure resources including VMs, storage accounts, and networking components.
- Strong background in PowerShell scripting
- Monitor and maintain Azure environments to ensure optimal performance, availability, and cost-efficiency.
- Analyze servers and systems event logs.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide timely resolutions.
- Maintain System Security, Finally, maintain system security by actively identifying faults and vulnerable areas within the system's architecture.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
- Provide well thought-out technical solutions based on best business practices.
- Provide server management of classified, unclassified and cloud computing networks.
- Provide configuration, support, maintenance and troubleshooting of Windows servers configured within On-premises Active Directory (AD), Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), and AWS Directory Service environments.
- Provide configuration, support, maintenance and troubleshooting of Windows and Linux servers.
- Provide creation, maintenance and deletion of user accounts, groups and rights within Microsoft Active Directory.
- Manage OBO Microsoft Group Policy within a Microsoft Active Directory environment.
- Install, configure, upgrade, maintain and troubleshoot licensing of various in-house engineering, scientific, business, and COTS applications.
- Perform back up and restoration services for applications and servers.
- Assist with performance engineering through the use of modeling using analytical or discrete event simulation.
- Provide technically sound advice and assistance to solve complex system problems.
- Install and update software, hardware, Microsoft critical updates and service packs.
- Manage OBO's DNS, DHCP, and IIS services within a Microsoft Active Directory environment.
Other Responsibilities may include:- Integrate strategic priorities into a Requirements Traceability Matrix. System life cycle development shall include configuration and change management, participation in configuration control boards, processing change requests, and coordinating with technical support organizations.
- Provide technical requirements that will be analyzed for recommended software and hardware specifications.
- Provide technical implementation using industry best practices.
- Perform system administration, system maintenance and sustainment engineering for development, testing, and production environments.
- Work closely with other IT team members to support ongoing projects and initiatives. Provide guidance and assistance to the teams other administrators as required
- Implement problem resolution including system troubleshooting and requirements and software analysis throughout the system life cycle.
- Perform all aspects of program and technical planning and resource management.
- Provide operational support and on-call support for domestic facilities and facilities abroad.
- Test new hardware, software and applications.
- Verifies compatibility with new operating systems as they are released and utilized within the organization.

Skills and Qualifications Required:- Requires an active Top Secret security clearance
- Requires a BS in Information Systems, Computer Science, or similar technical discipline.
- Department of State experience desired.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Azure infrastructure management and 10 years' experience with Windows Server administration. Microsoft Azure cloud, DoS experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of AWS desired
- Excellent understanding of system and network architecture in the cloud and able to manage multiple resources in support of EA cloud efforts.
- Demonstrate significant experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and services, IAM roles, scripting in PowerShell and DSC, and Bicep and ARM templates.
- In-depth understanding and knowledge of various cloud service models to include IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS and supporting deployment models, including Private, Public, and Hybrid cloud.
- Must possess hands-on technology knowledge and recognized expertise in public and hybrid-cloud tools and technologies covering automated provisioning and configuration management, particularly using Azure DevOps.
- Experience developing big data solutions to organize, manage, reduce redundancy, and increase reuse of enterprise data also a plus.
- Proficient in translating developer and stakeholder requirements into comprehensive architectural drawings and detailed planning documents, ensuring alignment with project goals and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of CI/CD deployment methodology and utilizing Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipeline management and automation
