Now a public company, Client is looking to expand its Engineering / Operations team through the addition of an experienced machinist and Quality Control Technician.
As a Machinist / Quality Control Technician at our Berkeley, CA quantum computing R&D facility, you will work in the Operations group alongside a team of engineers, technicians and supply chain professionals to support hardware projects.
Your responsibilities will include working hands on with prototyping and debugging advanced quantum processors, control systems, and other electronic and mechanical components.
This is a technical role within a protype environment where you will work side by side with other groups to review, evaluate, and disposition material to determine fitness for use. This is a risk identification and mitigation process.
You will be responsible for receiving and incoming quality inspection , non-conformance reporting and corrective actions as well as supplier feedback for improvement and shipping/receiving and stockroom inventory. To be successful, you will understand traditional and advanced inspection and test equipment.
An appreciation for component design requirements within the system and a proactive curiosity is a plus. The ideal candidate will have performed a hands-on function with interdisciplinary advanced technology teams. You are comfortable learning new tools and systems, asking questions and learning in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Be Doing:
● Key participant to assure prototypes and other systems meet the highest standards for quality and performance.
● You will work with Hardware. Electrical Engineering teams and Operations to assist with dispositioning Non-Conformance Material. Activities will include the tracking and resolving part non-conformances, RMAs and deviations as required.
● ‘You will receive and inspect parts (machined and sheet metal parts, cables, printed circuit board assemblies, etc.) per engineering specifications.
● You will perform inspection (Incoming Quality Control) using standard mechanical and electrical tools, optical systems, dimensional measurement, mating part fit, RF and DC electrical performance.
● You will work directly with suppliers to communicate issues and drive Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
● You will contribute to and support the evolution of client’s Quality Management System (QMS) to improve data collection, material traceability and reporting capability. You will contribute to refine the QMS and help evaluate system integration with existing product data management, inventory and finance systems.
● You will place parts into stock, maintain inventory records, and pull (kit) parts using Jira request tickets to support Hardware and Operations build and test programs.
● Shipping as required (1-2 times per week)
● May be asked to assist to help order small dollar items and other activities as needed.
What You Bring to the Table:
● A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset. Our goal is to support R&D programs and to keep build efforts on track. This means that we go beyond identifying issues with parts, working to identify and implement solutions as needed to minimize impact.
● AA degree or apprenticeship in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent industrial or military experience
● 2+ years of relevant hands-on experience, ideally in a high-tech R&D environment
● Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills. Ability to professionally represent the client to our internal and external partners.
● Strong interdisciplinary communication skills: Comfortable working with engineers, technicians and suppliers to drive quality improvements
● Experience using a variety of general-purpose mechanical and electronic test equipment (microscopes, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, multimeters, dc power supplies; calipers, thread gages, micrometers, etc.).
● Strong ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics and specifications.
● Meticulous attention to detail in parts inspection and documentation.
