Senior Data Engineer
Location: Remote
Duration: 12-month contract
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to support a strategic data platform transformation initiative. This role will focus on migrating our existing Microsoft Synapse Data Warehouse to Microsoft Fabric Data Lakehouse architecture.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in modern Microsoft data platforms and hands-on experience designing and implementing scalable data engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and support the migration from Microsoft Synapse Data Warehouse to Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse architecture)
· Design, build, and optimize data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
· Develop and maintain data models within Fabric Lakehouses
· Collaborate with architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure data solutions meet requirements
· Ensure data quality, governance, and performance optimization across the platform
· Implement best practices for data engineering, orchestration, and monitoring
· Document architecture, processes, and data flows
· Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members as needed
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in data engineering
Strong hands-on experience with:
· Microsoft Synapse Analytics
· Microsoft Fabric (Data Engineering / Lakehouse)
· Proven experience with data warehouse to lakehouse migrations
Proficiency in:
· SQL
· PySpark / Spark
· Data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Synapse Pipelines, Data Factory, Fabric pipelines)
· Experience working with large-scale data environments
