Job DetailsWhat You'll Do (Key Responsibilities):
- Perform fundamental and applied engineering research to create new products or improve existing components, equipment, systems, test methods, requirements, and processes
- Lead development efforts by keeping teams aligned on critical design decisions, end-user needs, system requirements, verification testing, product improvements, and relevant technology trends
- Apply broad engineering expertise (mechanical, electrical, and related domains) to drive innovation and solve complex product challenges
- Build, assemble, and evaluate prototypes that integrate mechanical and electrical elements
- Produce and interpret detailed mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and related technical documentation
- Support and sustain designs across the full product lifecycle, including refinement, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
- Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders in both written and verbal formats
- Follow defined role standard work and complete additional responsibilities as assigned
Technical Skills & Capabilities:
- Strong CAD proficiency (Siemens NX preferred; SolidWorks or similar acceptable) and comfort with the Microsoft Office suite
- Working knowledge of 3D printing and rapid prototyping approaches
- Hands-on experience assembling and debugging electromechanical prototypes (sensor-related experience strongly preferred)
- Practical fabrication capability, including activities such as machining, soldering, and mechanical/electrical assembly for development testing
- Experience testing electromechanical sensors/systems and working within automation or controls environments (including PLC-based systems)
- Sensor design and integration experience is a plus
- Background in water-quality monitoring devices or related equipment is preferred
- Solid fundamentals spanning mechanical design, electrical integration, and flow/fluids concepts
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced development setting: adaptable, resourceful, proactive, and comfortable operating with minimal supervision
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
- 5+ years of relevant industrial product development experience; sensor and automation industry exposure preferred
- Demonstrated experience with prototype development and CAD-driven design work
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Frequent use of hands for handling, manipulating, and assembling components; regular reaching and standard verbal communication/hearing requirements
- Frequently seated; occasionally standing and walking
- Lifting/moving requirements: regularly up to 10 lb, frequently up to 25 lb, occasionally up to 50 lb
- Vision requirements include close/distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Occasional exposure to fumes/airborne particles, chemicals that may be toxic/caustic, and electrical shock hazards
- Typical noise level is moderate
