Summary

Position: Google Cloud Platform Data Engineer
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Duration: Contract W2 Only

Job Overview:
In this contingent resource assignment, you will consult on or participate in moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within Software Engineering. You will contribute to large-scale planning related to Software Engineering deliverables, review and analyze moderately complex challenges, and collaborate with client personnel to meet deliverables while adhering to policies, procedures, and compliance requirements. This role involves hands-on development, data integration, and modernization efforts, supporting the Home Lending Data & Insights team.

Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain scalable batch and near real-time data pipelines.
  • Develop ETL solutions using Ab Initio, Python, PySpark, SQL, and PL/SQL.
  • Review technical designs and convert solution blueprints into reusable code.
  • Integrate, cleanse, normalize, and transform data from multiple mortgage-related systems.
  • Partner with Product Owners, Architects, Engineers, and business stakeholders.
  • Support migration and modernization initiatives from legacy platforms to Google Cloud.
  • Build, schedule, orchestrate, and deploy solutions through enterprise CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support monitoring, operational excellence, root cause analysis, and production reliability.

Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of Data Engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • 4+ years of PL/SQL and SQL skills with proven experience in Oracle, Teradata, Python, and/or BigQuery, including complex query development, tuning, and debugging.
  • 4+ years of Ab Initio skills with proven experience in building complex graphs, Psets, and performance tuning.
  • 4+ years of UNIX Shell Scripting experience.
  • 3+ years of programming skills in Python, with hands-on experience in PySpark for distributed data processing.
  • 3+ years of ETL/ETL design, data warehousing concepts, and data modeling best practices.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in the Financial Services or Mortgage industry.
  • Production operations experience, including monitoring, SLAs, incident response, and performance optimization.
  • Experience working in hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud) and supporting data migration/modernization initiatives.
  • Experience with scheduling/orchestration tools like Autosys and Airflow-based orchestration (Cloud Composer).
  • Experience with Git-based workflows, code reviews, and automated testing practices for data pipelines.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Harness, Jenkins, and uDeploy.
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted coding tools to improve productivity without compromising quality or security.
  • Experience with Dataplex and broader data governance concepts, including metadata, classification, stewardship, and lineage practices.
  • Experience designing near real-time patterns and handling late-arriving or out-of-order data.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform operational practices for data workloads, including service accounts, IAM basics, job monitoring, and cost controls.

Pay Range: $55-$65/hr. on W2
