Role: IT Support Specialist I
Position Type: Contract to Hire
Location: 100% Onsite - NW Portland
Compensation: $25-30/hr
General Description
Our client is seeking an entry level IT Support Specialist who will serve as the first line of technical support for end users. This role focuses on customer service, basic troubleshooting, and day to day IT operations. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who enjoys problem solving, assisting users, and learning new technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the initial point of contact for users requesting technical assistance (phone, email, chat, or in person).
- Provide support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripheral equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve basic operating system issues (primarily Windows), application errors, and simple networking problems.
- Assist with account related tasks including password resets and unlocking user accounts.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware and standard software packages.
- Document all incidents, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the IT ticketing system.
- Escalate more complex technical issues to IT Support Specialist II or higher level IT staff.
- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain a professional, user focused approach.
- Support routine IT operational tasks such as system updates, hardware inventory, equipment setup, and project assistance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology is a plus.
- Basic working knowledge of Windows operating systems; exposure to other OS environments is beneficial.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, email platforms, and common business applications.
- Introductory understanding of Microsoft Active Directory.
- Knowledge of basic networking fundamentals (IP addressing, Wi Fi, VPN).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize multiple tasks.
