Position Overview
APEX is seeking an experienced
Engineer - CAD/CAM to support advanced
launch vehicle avionics design programs for a leading aerospace and defense organization. This role supports a highly collaborative Avionics Design Group and offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge systems that directly contribute to national aerospace and defense initiatives.
You will work closely with design, program, and mechanical engineers in a fast-paced environment, translating complex circuit designs into high-reliability printed wiring boards used in mission-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and layout printed wiring boards (PWBs) for military and aerospace avionics and test applications
- Collaborate with circuit design and mechanical engineers to ensure proper form, fit, and function
- Communicate project status and technical updates to engineering and program leadership
- Participate in peer reviews and design milestone reviews throughout the development lifecycle
- Prepare manufacturing deliverables including ODB++ and Gerber files
- Create and manage PCB symbols, footprints, and libraries
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of recent PWB layout experience using Cadence Allegro
- Associate degree (AA/AS) or equivalent 2-year technical training with 5+ years of relevant experience
- Experience designing high-density, multilayer boards (6-16 layers)
- Proven background in digital, analog, and power circuit layout
- Hands-on experience with high-speed digital and controlled-impedance designs (e.g., SERDES, DDR3/DDR4)
- Experience with rigid-flex PCB designs
- Strong understanding of IPC-2221 and IPC-7351 standards
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required
