Role: Lead Devops Engineer

Job Description:
The DevOps SME is a senior technical leader responsible for defining best practices, driving automation, and ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of cloud and on prem environments. This role provides deep subject-matter expertise in CI/CD, cloud platforms, configuration management, observability, site reliability, and DevOps culture. The SME works closely with development, QA, infrastructure, and security teams to build highly automated and resilient systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. DevOps Strategy & Architecture
Define scalable DevOps architectures aligned with business and application needs.
Establish DevOps best practices, tooling standards, and governance frameworks.
Drive implementation of cloud native solutions and infrastructure modernization.
2. CI/CD Pipeline Ownership
Design, build, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for seamless code integration and deployment.
Standardize pipeline templates, enforce quality gates, and integrate automated testing.
Implement multi stage deployments (Dev QA Staging Prod) with rollback strategies.
3. Cloud & Infrastructure Expertise
Provide hands-on expertise in AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or hybrid cloud environments.
Lead cloud provisioning using IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, or Pulumi.
Ensure scalability, cost optimization, and high availability across environments.
4. Automation & Configuration Management
Drive end to end automation for deployments, monitoring, patching, and environment setup.
Implement configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or SaltStack.
5. Observability, Monitoring & Reliability
Define SLIs/SLOs and ensure system reliability using SRE principles.
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog, etc.
Perform RCA (Root Cause Analysis), improve system resilience, and reduce MTTR.
6. Security & Compliance
Integrate DevSecOps practices into pipelines, including SAST/DAST, secrets scanning, SBOM, and container scanning.
Ensure compliance with security frameworks and automate vulnerability remediation workflows.
7. Collaboration & Leadership
Act as the central advisor for all DevOps-related technical decisions.
Mentor DevOps engineers and guide cross-functional teams on tool adoption and automation practices.
Conduct workshops, trainings, and knowledge sharing sessions.
8. Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Stay updated with AI-driven DevOps, GitOps, AIOps, and new automation trends.
Recommend enhancements in performance, scalability, and deployment efficiency.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
Strong expertise in CI/CD tools: Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI.
In-depth cloud skills: AWS / Azure / Google Cloud Platform.
Proficient in containerization and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, OpenShift.
Experience with IaC: Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, Pulumi.
Hands-on with scripting languages: Python, Bash, PowerShell.
Strong understanding of networking, security, load balancers, firewalls, DNS, VPN.
Familiar with monitoring tools: Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Datadog, New Relic.
Experience with GitOps (ArgoCD, Flux) and DevSecOps tools.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, IT, or related field.
