Job Title: Senior Data Engineer Spark & Big Data Platforms
Contract Length: 12+ Month contract

Seeking an experienced Big Data Engineer to design, develop, and optimize scalable data processing solutions using Java or Scala with Spark. This role involves hands-on engineering, performance tuning, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to build robust distributed data systems.

Required Qualifications

• Experience with Java/Spark or Scala/Spark
• Experience using version control tools such as GIT
• Experience with CI/CD processes
• Experience with build tools such as Gradle and Maven
• Strong knowledge of database concepts
• Strong knowledge of UNIX bash scripting
• Experience with Spark and SQL
• Experience leading other engineers and designing solutions
• Experience abstracting and decomposing software into services
• Proficiency in: Java or Scala, Spark, SQL, Shell scripting

Good to Have

• Hands-on experience working with Hadoop ecosystem and big data technologies/stores such as Hive, Kafka, S3, and Iceberg
• Spark performance tuning knowledge
• Data modeling and normalization knowledge
• Experience developing cloud-native applications and cloud deployment (AWS or Google Cloud Platform)
