Job Description

The Field Applications Engineer (FAE) serves as a technical leader and solution architect for Americas Broad Market customers, enabling design-in and acceleration of onsemi solutions across Industrial, Automotive, and emerging high-growth segments (e.g., Energy Infrastructure, Robotics, Automation, and Electrification).

This role partners closely with Sales, Business Units, and Marketing to drive solution selling, funnel growth, and customer engagement at scale, supporting both focus accounts and mass-market expansion.

Location: San Jose

Responsibilities

  • Own customer technical engagement to drive demand creation, design wins, and revenue growth across Americas Broad Market accounts.
  • Lead technical solution positioning aligned to focus segments, solution campaigns, customer systems, architectures, and roadmap priorities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customer engineering teams, influencing design decisions through presentations, demos, workshops, and hands-on engagement.
  • Collaborate closely with FSE, Sales, BU, and Marketing teams to align strategy, priorities, and solution-selling initiatives.
  • Drive design-win creation and funnel expansion through opportunity identification, qualification, and disciplined pipeline management.
  • Provide voice-of-customer insights to influence product roadmap, NPI direction, and market-focused solution development.
  • Partner globally with engineering and product teams across the Americas, Europe, and Asia to support customer needs and strategic initiatives.
  • Enable distribution and channel partners through training, technical engagement, repeatable solution frameworks, and reference designs.
  • Support application design, validation, troubleshooting, optimization, and issue resolution at the system level.
  • Apply expertise in power, analog, and mixed-signal applications, including power conversion, power management, MOSFET, IGBT, SiC/WBG devices, motor drives, energy systems, automation, and robotics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in applications engineering, FAE, or system design
  • Proven ability to support customer-facing technical engagements and design cycles
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across global teams
