Job Overview: The Senior Database Administrator plays a critical role in the design, implementation, and day-to-day management of the organization's enterprise database infrastructure. This position ensures high availability, data integrity, and optimal performance of all database environments to support business continuity and strategic growth. The role involves the full lifecycle of database systems, including requirements gathering, solution design, capacity planning, performance tuning, and ongoing administration. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical proficiency in SQL Server performance tuning, high availability, and recovery solutions, as well as strategic thinking to align database technologies with business objectives.
Responsibilities: - Design and implement scalable database solutions to meet business requirements.
- Install, configure, and maintain database systems for optimal performance and reliability.
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including backups, updates, and patches.
- Monitor database performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Optimize SQL queries and indexes to enhance database efficiency.
- Plan and manage database capacity for optimal resource utilization.
- Develop and implement comprehensive backup strategies to ensure data protection.
- Create and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Conduct regular tests of backup and recovery procedures for reliability.
- Implement security measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access.
- Ensure compliance with data retention, privacy, and security policies.
- Configure and manage access controls for authorized database usage.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor to junior staff.
- Lead database-related projects and participate in cross-functional initiatives.
- Engage with vendors and service providers for support, upgrades, and procurement.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (equivalent experience accepted).
- 12+ years of experience in enterprise database administration.
- Expert-level knowledge of RDBMS, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.
- Strong hands-on experience with at least two database platforms, such as Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
- Proficiency in AWS/Azure database skills.
- Experience with scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, Shell, and automation tools.
- Knowledge of data replication and high availability technologies.
- Experience with data migration strategies and tools.
- Solid understanding of data lifecycle management, data retention, and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment and work effectively under high pressure.

Pay Range: $65 - $70/hr. W2
