ASIC/ SoC Design Lead/Manager
We are seeking an experienced ASIC / SoC Design Lead to play a key role in startup company building advanced graph computing acceleration systems.
Based on extensive research, this company is building a large-scale ASIC to commercialize the novel computer architecture and realize the order-of-magnitude performance increases.
The commercial realization employs a complex ASIC, advanced silicon process (7nm, 5nm, etc.), and packaging (HBM, CoWoS), and requires an excellent team for successful execution.
We currently have a strong team of computer architects, hardware design/validation engineers, and software engineers, but are looking for a senior RTL design leader/team manager.
Critical attributes of a successful candidate include:
- Leadership experience with advanced chip designs, recent successful completion of complex VLSI projects (billions of transistors) in advanced Si process
- Strong, proven leadership abilities to drive an extraordinarily talented, small team working on RTL design, validation, and SoC integration. Ability to mentor and grow talented junior engineers
- Ability to also drive design of test boards, and work the packaging team to produce product boxes.
- Flexibility to thrive in a fast-moving startup environment, maintaining critical rigor and discipline, but avoiding big-company bureaucracy
Strong candidates are likely to have some of the following backgrounds:
- BS or MS in computer engineering, electrical engineering or computer science
- Experience as a hardware design engineer or validation engineer
- A veteran of multiple design projects, of ambitious scale (1B+ transistors), with complex IP blocks (HBM, PCIe, UCIe) and challenging project schedules
- Experience at leading silicon design company (large or small)
- Management / team leadership experience
The company is a spin-out from the research performed at world class universities. It is commercializing a novel system technology (hardware and software) that includes breakthrough graph processing performance for government intelligence, cyberfraud, market intelligence, and many other areas.
The team and the hardware design team is located in Chicago.
They offer competitive compensation, an opportunity to be part of ground breaking work and equity participation.
