Lead Structural/Civil Field Engineer
Work Environment & Schedule - Contract onsite position.
- Project site located in Homer City, Pennsylvania.
- Active construction environment requires regular field presence.
- Extended work hours and occasional weekend support may be required during critical project phases.
$75.00 - $100.00 per hour based on matching experience + Medical, dental, vision, paid holidays, accrued PTO, 401k with company match after 90 days. Per diem and expenses for those that qualify Provide onsite engineering leadership and technical support for all civil, structural, and site development activities associated with a large-scale energy infrastructure redevelopment project.
This role will serve as the primary field engineering resource for earthwork, grading, drainage, foundations, underground utilities, structural concrete, and structural steel construction activities.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive field engineering experience supporting large-scale industrial construction projects and have a strong background in construction integration, site development, and heavy civil work.
Experience supporting combined cycle power generation, substation, and switchyard construction is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities - Serve as the lead field engineering representative for all civil and structural construction activities.
- Support construction execution by coordinating engineering deliverables, field activities, and contractor interfaces.
- Provide technical oversight for site grading, excavation, embankment construction, drainage systems, underground utilities, foundations, and structural installations.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and construction documents to support field execution.
- Coordinate with construction management, quality, survey, environmental, and commissioning teams.
- Identify and resolve field engineering issues impacting safety, quality, schedule, or cost.
- Review RFIs, engineering change notices, and field design modifications.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with project specifications and quality requirements.
- Support constructability reviews, field walkdowns, and construction planning activities.
- Assist with schedule forecasting, progress reporting, and risk mitigation efforts.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project procedures.
- Support turnover and commissioning activities as required.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related engineering discipline required.
- Minimum 10 years of engineering and construction experience supporting large industrial, energy, utility, infrastructure, or EPC projects.
- Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale earthwork and site development projects.
- Strong construction and field integration experience.
- Experience with excavation, grading, drainage, foundations, underground utilities, concrete, and structural steel construction.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and construction schedules.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications - Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Experience supporting combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power generation projects.
- Experience with substation and switchyard construction.
- Previous experience supporting large EPC projects.
- Familiarity with commissioning, startup, and turnover processes.
- Experience working with major engineering and construction contractors on utility-scale projects.
