Job Title: Data Engineer (Google Cloud Platform/Airflow/Spark) Location: Bentonville, AR (Hybrid 3 Days Onsite per Week)

Important: Previous Walmart experience is required with a strong reference. Candidate must not have worked at Walmart within the last 6 months.

Job Summary

Walmart is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to design, develop, and optimize scalable data platforms supporting analytics, forecasting, and AI/ML initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, SQL, and cloud-based data engineering solutions. Experience supporting AI/ML data infrastructure is highly desirable.

This is a Contract-to-Hire opportunity requiring onsite presence in Bentonville, AR three days per week.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of Data Engineering experience (Intermediate Level) OR
• 5+ years of Data Engineering experience (Specialist Level)
• Strong hands-on experience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
• Expertise in Apache Spark for large-scale data processing.
• Advanced SQL skills including:
• Query optimization
• Complex joins
• Performance tuning
• BigQuery-specific SQL capabilities
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform Data Services:
• BigQuery
• Cloud Storage
• Pub/Sub
• Dataflow
• Strong understanding of:
• ETL/ELT architectures
• Data Warehousing concepts
• Data Modeling
• Data Pipeline Development

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using:
• Apache Airflow
• Apache Spark
• Google Cloud Platform Dataflow
• Develop and maintain BigQuery data models, schemas, and optimized SQL queries.
• Build and support data pipelines powering AI/ML feature stores and forecasting solutions.
• Collaborate with AI/ML teams to provide high-quality, low-latency data for model training and inference.
• Manage and optimize Cloud Composer workflows and DAG orchestration.
• Implement:
• Data Quality Monitoring
• Alerting Mechanisms
• Data Lineage Tracking
• Participate in data platform architecture design, best practices, and technical documentation.
• Ensure scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient cloud data solutions.
