We are seeking a skilled CAD Designer to support the development of a Gen 2 metal module frame designed to hold 9x cells. This role involves creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of sheet metal components and assemblies, incorporating manufacturing feedback, and ensuring compliance with product requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong technical design skills, proficiency in CAD software, and experience in mechanical design and fabrication.

Job Duties
* Create white-page designs that will be the foundation Gen 2 product designs
* Perform hands-on prototyping of designs and collaborate with broader teams to build integrated prototypes
* Work with consulting companies, vendors, manufacturing engineers, and technical operations to transition designs from the prototype stage to high volume production
* Perform bench testing, hand calculations, and FEA to inform specs and future design direction
* Release designs consistent with company and team best practices (drawings, tolerance analysis, etc)
* Drive verification testing of your design work
* Present your work at design reviews and drive stakeholder alignment prior to final release
* Perform failure root cause analysis on systems and assemblies
* Travel up to 10% to other offices or vendor sites
Knowledge, Skills/Education/Experience
* Bachelor"s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 7+ years industry experience in mechanical design
* Experience leading design work for complex mechanical systems and structural design, using FEA for structural analysis
* Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD), specifically SolidWorks modeling and drafting using GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
* Proficient in component design for mass manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), especially sheet metal, stampings, weldments and extruded components
* Proficient with prototyping techniques and working in a machine shop environment
* Sense of urgency and self-driven to hit difficult schedule targets
* Familiarity with mechanical verification testing
* Familiarity with electro-mechanical systems, power electronics, or batteries is a plus
