Department Overview
We are a staging facility responsible for designing, programming, optimizing, testing, and demonstrating two-way radio systems to our public safety and commercial market customers. These demonstrations are performed for customers onsite as an important part of Factory Acceptance.
Job Description
Role Overview
Lead the systems engineering team through the staging lifecycle, managing all phases in system integration, verification, validation, and successful customer system testing. You will play a pivotal role in bridging hardware, software, and AI disciplines to ensure our complex product ecosystems stage seamlessly and efficiently.
  • Lead and Develop: Cultivate a high-performing engineering team by managing performance reviews, providing mentorship, and driving strategic career growth and competency development.
  • Resource Management: Develop measurable metrics to drive resources required for project systems integration needs for the business.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Program Management, Operations, Field SI, and GenAI teams to execute system requirements, and ensure cohesive integration across all disciplines.
  • Architectural Leadership: Engage with front-end and architecture teams to optimize system integration processes, and drive technical maturation related.
  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify, mitigate, and address technical risks across schedule, cost, safety, quality, reliability, and robustness.
  • Process Excellence: Drive departmental initiatives for engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation.
  • Project Execution: Oversee engineering processes, establishing realistic schedules, monitoring critical milestones, and ensuring alignment with overarching program goals.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree (MS or MBA) is a strong plus.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in systems design and/or product development, with a minimum of 4-5 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Track Record: Proven ability to lead a team in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, decisive strategic thinking, influence management, and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to work effectively across all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with two-way radio communication systems, public safety services, or AI-integrated wearable platforms.
  • Deep understanding of systems engineering principles, requirements elicitation, system architecture, and integration.
  • Proficient in Google Applications - Google Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Drive.
  • Proficient in Google AI Applications - LM Notebook, Gems, Apps Script
  • Certification: Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
  • Track Record: Proven ability to lead a team in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, decisive strategic thinking, influence management, and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • A Master's degree (MS or MBA) is a strong plus.

Position is onsite in Elgin, IL.

Target Base Salary Range: $130,000 - $175,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
