This is a hybrid role within the NYC tri-state area and requires periodic travel to client offices in Connecticut, as well as occasional travel to other East Coast client and company locations, including New York and Georgia.
We are seeking a highly experienced professional with a strong background in Credit Risk and/or Fraud Analytics, particularly within telecommunications or similar consumer-facing industries.
Role Overview:
The Credit/Fraud Risk Strategy Consultant will serve as a trusted advisor to telecommunications clients, providing strategic guidance on the design, evaluation, and optimization of credit risk, fraud risk, and payments risk strategies across B2C (consumer) and SMB (small-to-medium business) portfolios.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate and enhance credit and fraud risk strategies, policies, and underwriting frameworks.
Assess the effectiveness of decisioning models, risk segmentation, and approval/decline strategies.
Review and improve fraud detection and prevention controls, including payment risk mitigation strategies.
Operate in a second line of defense (2LOD) advisory capacity, providing independent oversight and constructive challenge to first-line business units.
Assess governance structures, risk appetite alignment, control environments, and regulatory compliance across multiple business units.
Partner with stakeholders across risk, analytics, operations, and product teams to recommend data-driven improvements.
Leverage advanced analytics, performance monitoring, and KPI tracking to drive portfolio optimization and loss reduction.
Provide strategic recommendations to balance growth, customer experience, and risk mitigation.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Strong experience in Credit Risk Analytics and/or Fraud Risk Strategy
Experience within telecommunications, fintech, banking, or payments
Deep understanding of underwriting, fraud detection models, policy design, and portfolio performance management
Experience working within a second line of defense framework
Ability to engage with senior stakeholders and translate analytics into strategic business decisions
Willingness to travel as required within the East Coast region
