Summary
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement enterprise automation solutions supporting complex middleware and infrastructure environments. This hands-on role will focus on automating the deployment, configuration, and management of enterprise platforms using Ansible, Python, and Shell scripting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in infrastructure automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and Linux administration, along with experience developing scalable, reusable automation frameworks. Knowledge of enterprise middleware technologies such as IBM WebSphere, Liberty, IBM MQ, and managed file transfer solutions is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain infrastructure automation solutions using Ansible, Python, and Shell scripting.
- Build and manage configuration management and automation strategies across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Develop reusable, modular, and maintainable automation code following Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices.
- Create and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, dynamic inventories, and automation workflows using Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).
- Develop Python scripts and automation tools for system administration, orchestration, monitoring, and REST API integrations.
- Create and maintain complex Bash/Shell scripts to automate Linux and Unix administration tasks.
- Automate deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of enterprise middleware technologies, including WebSphere, Liberty, IBM MQ, and managed file transfer platforms.
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, operations, and security teams to identify automation opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues within automated infrastructure and deployment processes.
- Participate in code reviews and mentor team members on automation best practices.
- Document automation solutions, operational procedures, and technical standards.
- Continuously improve automation frameworks for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, DevOps, Automation Engineering, or a related infrastructure role.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing automation solutions using Ansible.
- Experience with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), including workflow management and automation orchestration.
- Experience developing Ansible playbooks, roles, custom modules, dynamic inventories, and utilizing Ansible Galaxy.
- Strong understanding of YAML and Jinja2 templating.
- 5+ years of professional Python development experience, including REST API integrations and infrastructure automation.
- 10+ years of Bash/Shell scripting experience in Linux/Unix environments.
- Strong Linux/Unix systems administration experience.
- Experience automating infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and best practices.
- Proficiency with version control systems such as Git, GitHub, or GitLab.
- Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with cross-functional technical teams.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience automating enterprise middleware platforms, including IBM WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Liberty, IBM MQ, and managed file transfer technologies.
- Experience supporting both cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments.
- Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with enterprise automation frameworks and orchestration platforms.
- AWS cloud experience or AWS certifications.
- Experience mentoring engineers and conducting code reviews.
- Experience documenting automation standards, operational procedures, and technical best practices.
