Primary PurposePRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITIONThe Engineering Technical Specialist drives advanced drone operations across PHI's infrastructure, leveraging both hands-on and automated capabilities to improve safety, reliability, and cost efficiency. This role executes manual inspections while leading Drone-in-a-Box deployments that enable continuous monitoring, rapid response, and data-driven decision-making across the enterprise.
Develops studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, cost estimates, budgets, associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, operation, and maintenance of Exelon's electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecommunication facilities/systems. Provides analytical support for consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers as a result of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles or facilities. Collects and compiles financial data for budget and actual costs of projects. Reviews financial data from budget and actual costs of projects. Operates independently and seeks guidance when
appropriate. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
Primary DutiesPRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES- Performs engineering assignments while exercising independent discretion; (e.g. Collect data, perform analysis, interpret results, draw conclusions, and make recommendations to management)
- Performs engineering tasks associated with large projects or a number of small projects; (e.g. Analyze and interpret the results of power flows and perform engineering tests, and analyze non-specific and ambiguous results)
- May direct the engineering tasks associated with a large project or a number of small projects (e.g. Verify and validate studies, blueprints, or designs against accepted engineering principles and practices. Design high voltage transmission and distribution circuits, meeting all engineering standards and criteria)
- Participates on teams and may lead teams.

Minimum QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 2-4 years of relevant experience or 3-6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a technical degree.
- Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches. Knowledge of construction, operations or engineering principles and practices.
- Good knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform routine assignments for a specific discipline installations, or service.
Preferred QualificationsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Valid FAA Remote Pilot Certificate
- Level 1 Thermographer certification
- Ability to lift and carry 55 lbs
- Advanced degree in Uncrewed aviation or related field
- Applies solid analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate and improve engineering systems and processes.
- Independently communicates technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, adapting style as needed.
- Collaborates across teams, contributes meaningfully to technical discussions, and begins to mentor junior staff.
- Demonstrates initiative and ownership of work through project leadership, cross-functional coordination, or process improvements.
- A working knowledge of analysis software packages such as CYMDIST, PSS\E, Python, PLS-CAD, Pole Foreman, Power BI, or similar.
Benefits- Annual salary will vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $72,000.00/Yr. - $99,000.00/Yr.
