Thinking Minds' client is seeking a highly experienced Workday & People Systems Lead to serve as the primary owner and subject matter expert for Workday and related people systems. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on hands-on system configuration, technical ownership, operational excellence, and scalable HR technology solutions.
The selected candidate will lead design, configuration, maintenance, enhancements, and optimization across key Workday modules, including Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, and other people systems. This role will manage Workday releases, perform impact analysis, support testing, deploy new functionality, and ensure systems continue to meet evolving business needs.
This position requires strong cross-functional collaboration with People, Finance, IT, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into efficient, secure, and scalable system solutions. The role will also oversee integrations between Workday and internal or external platforms, support API and data architecture needs, and help maintain strong governance around system changes, documentation, and usage standards.
Key responsibilities include ensuring data integrity, security, compliance, and audit readiness across people systems; enhancing reporting and analytics capabilities within Workday; managing vendors or consultants as needed; and providing technical guidance to junior HRIS or People Systems team members without formal people management responsibility.
The ideal candidate will bring 8+ years of experience in HRIS / People Systems, with deep expertise in Workday configuration, release management, integrations, HR processes, and people data structures. Experience in high-growth or enterprise environments is highly valued, along with familiarity with additional HR platforms such as Ashby, CultureAmp, or similar systems.
Preferred qualifications include Workday certifications in areas such as HCM, Recruiting, or Integrations, experience with people analytics and reporting tools, and an interest in applying AI, automation, and emerging HR technology capabilities to improve operational workflows, user experience, and business insights.
