Role : Senior AWS Cloud Engineer

Location : Newark, NJ (Hybrid)

Job Summary:

The Senior Cloud Engineer will play a key role in driving AWS cloud modernization and automation. This role focuses on architecting solutions, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating across teams to optimize cloud application deployments. In addition, the Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for creating required automation using latest DevOps tools & services to reduce manual tasks and speed to market. They should be able to write SOPs to document processes and procedures following the required standards and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead design and implementation of advanced AWS solutions, ensuring scalability, resilience, and cost-effectiveness.
• Champion automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to streamline operations

and reduce manual processes.

• Drive improvements in CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native application delivery.
• Establish monitoring, logging, and alerting best practices for high availability and

reliability.

• Collaborate with security and compliance teams to enforce governance policies.
• Mentor Cloud Engineers and guide them in best practice and technical growth.
• Develop Finops practice focusing on standardization, cost optimization, and show back model.
• Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in AWS and provide guidance to stakeholders.
• Act as a point of escalation or troubleshooting & resolving technical issues.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
• 15+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 7+ years of AWS-focused cloud engineering experience.
• Solid hands-on experience working with AWS compute, storage, backup, networking, hybrid connectivity, IAM, security, Control tower, and AWS organization
• Strong proficiency in Terraform - Infrastructure as Code
• Experience with Kubernetes (EKS) and container orchestration.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline and automation. Preferably Jenkins, bitbucket.
• Experience with observability tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, etc.).
• Proven track record of leading complex AWS migrations or modernization initiatives.
• Awareness of cost optimization practices within AWS
• Understanding of Migration tools like MGN, DMS, s3 sync
• AWS Professional certification strongly preferred.
• Experience with networking fundamentals (AWS Direct Connect, Privatelink, VPN, VPCs, routing, load balancing)
• Microsoft Active Directory, EntraID, DHCP, and DNS
• Basic understanding of Amazon Workspaces
• Working knowledge of Security Tools: CrowdStrike, CASB, Rapid7, CyberArk, Centrify, SSO, MFA.
• Familiarity with Data analytics platforms like Snowflake and Databricks.

Preferred Certifications:

AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or Professional certification. Google Cloud Platform or Azure certifications a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge

• Deep knowledge of AWS cloud architecture and core service integrations.
• Strong understanding of DevOps practices and cloud-native design patterns.
• Familiarity with compliance and governance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.).
• Awareness of advanced AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, Kinesis, etc.).

Skills

• Advanced Infrastructure as Code expertise (Terraform modules, CloudFormation stacks).
• Designing, implementing, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines at scale.
• Performance tuning and advanced troubleshooting in distributed systems.
• Building secure, resilient, and scalable AWS solutions.

Abilities

• Lead projects and mentor junior engineers with best practices.
• Anticipate risks, dependencies, and technical challenges in cloud initiatives.
• Influence architecture and design decisions with strong technical rationale.
