Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Automation Engineer for a direct hire opportunity in Eureka, CA. This role supports a 24/7 aluminum manufacturing environment, including melting, casting, rolling, and finishing operations.

The Electrical & Automation Engineer will design, implement, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems, controls, PLCs, drives, HMI/SCADA platforms, historians, and automation solutions that improve uptime, safety, quality, and production efficiency. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineering professional who enjoys solving complex plant-floor challenges, leading automation projects, and making a measurable impact in a high-performance manufacturing setting.

Candidates can expect a safety-focused, team-oriented environment with opportunities to partner closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams. The role offers strong visibility, meaningful project ownership, and the chance to support critical production systems in a stable industrial operation.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, implement, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical, controls, and automation systems across aluminum production processes.
- Program and troubleshoot PLC platforms, including Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, GuardLogix, Siemens TIA Portal, or Beckhoff systems.
- Manage electrical and automation projects, including scope development, budgeting, execution, documentation, and commissioning support.
- Specify, configure, and troubleshoot variable frequency AC drives, DC motor drives, motor control centers, and related electrical equipment.
- Lead root-cause analysis for electrical downtime using historians, meters, thermal imaging, and other diagnostic tools.
- Maintain and modify HMI/SCADA systems, MES interfaces, historians, arc flash studies, coordination studies, and NFPA compliance programs.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $135,000 to $150,000 per year.
- Job type: Direct hire.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Lead electrical and automation projects from scope development through execution and documentation.
- Maintain and troubleshoot PLCs, drives, HMI/SCADA systems, historians, and plant electrical infrastructure.
- Support process uptime, safety compliance, preventative maintenance, and root-cause analysis initiatives.
- Develop and improve automation systems that support manufacturing efficiency, quality, and reliability.

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or 10 years of industrial automation experience without a degree.
- 3+ years of industrial automation experience with a degree.
- Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC systems in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical troubleshooting, controls, instrumentation, motor controls, and automation equipment.
- Experience with project management, documentation, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a 24/7 manufacturing environment with a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and teamwork.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and GuardLogix programming and troubleshooting experience.
- Siemens S7-1500 programming and troubleshooting experience.
- FactoryTalk SE/ME, Simatic, or Ignition HMI experience.
- Siemens and Allen-Bradley drives experience.
- Medium and low voltage switchgear troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
- Iba or OSI PI historian experience.
- Strong device networking skills.
- Experience maintaining arc flash and coordination studies, NFPA 70E compliance, and NFPA 70B compliance.
